Kern River Status Update

All District canals are currently operating. Farmers, Stine, and Buena Vista utility water is expected to run for up to two more weeks. Growers are encouraged to coordinate with the Dispatch Office regarding prorations and water orders. They can be reached at (661) 834-4653. A copy of the proration letter can be found on our website here.

Due to COVID – 19 precautions, we ask that you limit in person visits to the office for the short-term. If you do visit the office masks are currently required.

To help visualize the current state of the River, the District is providing this graph that compares flow rates for the two-year periods of 2019-2020, the current period of 2020-2021, as well as other two-year periods in which the first year was below average for the Kern River. The flows for this year are estimates only and subject to revision.
