Kern River Status Update
The Kern Island, Farmers, Stine, and Buena Vista canal systems are in full operation in order to meet powerflow and storage cap restrictions. Any grower in District with demand should contact our Operations Department.
Last week water applications for 2023 went out to all water users. Growers are encouraged to review these applications to ensure the information we have on file is correct. A fillable form version of the cover page can be found on our website here (Simply complete, print, and include with your application). If you have any questions do not hesitate to reach out to our Operations Department at (661) 834-4653 and speak to Cindy or email her at cynthia@kerndelta.org. We ask that growers complete the applications and submit them as soon as possible.
Your irrigation system works most effectively when it distributes the right amount of water uniformly. The North West Kern Resource Conservation District has Mobile Lab Technicians who can field test your irrigation system. With pressurized systems, trained Mobile Lab technicians will check the operation of your filters, and emitters or sprinklers. Pressures and flow rates are carefully measured throughout the field to determine how uniformly water is being applied to your crop at a low cost to the water user.
