NOTICE TO ALL DISTRICT WATER USERS
Earlier today the United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) informed Kern River interests that a mandatory shut down of outflow from Lake Isabella will begin on Tuesday, June 27th at 12:01 AM. The outflow will be reduced in 1,000 CFS increments, resulting in a zero outflow around 7:00 AM Tuesday morning. Once the outflow is off, USACE personnel will conduct an inspection that is expected to last between 4 to 8 hours. Upon completion of the inspection outflow will resume with 500 CFS increases every hour. It is possible this interruption could last into Wednesday morning.
In April it took several days for Kern Delta systems to return to normal after a similar operation. District growers are strongly encouraged to plan their irrigation schedules around this outage, and if possible to do as much irrigation over the weekend leading up to the outage. It may take several days before surface water is available. |
