KDWD Newsletter December 31, 2019

On behalf of Kern Delta Water District, we would like to wish everyone a Happy New Year!

The District is pleased to announce that our website has now gone live. The new website offers an assortment of information regarding District programs and policies to better serve our growers and community. It can be viewed at www.kerndelta.org.

Annual District Water Application forms were mailed out right after Christmas.  All are encouraged to review and return the updated forms as soon as possible.

At the December 5th Kern River Groundwater Sustainability Agency (KRGSA) meeting a public hearing was held and the KRGSA Groundwater Sustainability Plan was adopted. A copy of that draft plan can be viewed here.

With the upcoming holidays the District Office will be closed from time to time. The office will be closing at noon on December 24. The offices will be closed all day on December 25th and January 1st.

All District systems have been shut down for annual routine maintenance. During this maintenance period Operations staff will be in the field. During our regular business hours of 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM all calls to the Operations Department at (661) 834-4653 will be directed to voicemail while calls outside of business hours will continue to be directed to our answering service. The front office staff will still be reachable at (661) 834-4656 during normal business hours. Some District facilities will begin service again on or about January 2nd.

The Kern River Watershed Coalition Authority meeting for January has been canceled. The next meeting is scheduled for February 6, 2020.

In January, the Kern River Groundwater Sustainability Agency will be holding its meeting on January 9, 2020. The meeting will still be at 10:00 AM at City Hall North, Conference Room A located at 1600 Truxtun Ave.

To help visualize the current state of the River, the District is providing this graph that compares flow rates for the two year periods of 2017-2018, 2018-2019, the current period of 2019-2020, as well as other two year periods in which the first year was above average for the Kern River. The flows for this year are estimates only and subject to revision.
