Kern River Status Update
Yesterday, the Department of Water Resources published its first Bulletin B-120 forecast for the year. This initial forecast predicts that the April through July runoff for the Kern River will be around 66% of normal. This forecast is based on observed conditions through the end of January.
Due to low Power Flow obligations and the availability of storage in Lake Isabella, some District canal systems will be cut back or even shut down in order to maximize storage for use in the summer months. District staff will do our best to keep growers informed. If you have any questions please call the District’s Dispatch Office at (661) 834-4653.
Once again the North West Kern Resource Conservation District is offering irrigation system evaluations through it’s Mobil Lab. The Mobil Lab technicians will check the operation of your filters, and emitters and sprinklers at a low cost to water users. For more information you can call the Irrigation Mobile Lab at (661) 281-2746 and ask for Brian Hockett. Further information can be found here. |
