Kern River Status Update All District Facilities are scheduled for shut down procedures by December 9th. The Central Canal is shut down for a construction project and will remain down until early January. The Kern Island is expected to be shut down on December 9th and remain down until early January.

To help visualize the current state of the River, the District is providing this graph that compares flow rates for the two-year periods of 2020-2021, the current period of 2021-2022, as well as other two-year periods in which the first year was below average for the Kern River. The flows for this year are estimates only and subject to revision.
